Allow me to leave you with a song from my number ten choice, Porcelain and the Tramps. Guns aren't toys! Enjoy!

First Home Cooked Meal

Have you ever taken advantage of mark downs at the grocery store? Ralphs had a three day sale a while back on filet mignon and lobster tail. My fiancé is a big meat eater and a fan of seafood. We concur on our food choices when it comes to meat but being allergic to seafood, he's alone on that one. As I wanted to be a good fiancée that day, I offered to make him some filet mignon and lobster tail.

Here's what I whipped up in the kitchen.

homemade sour cream mashed potatoes, lobster tail and filet mignon

My happy customer eating his meal.

I've been cooking more often nowadays so I decided to impart a couple of my recipes. I will add a food category to my blog so check up on future entries for some step by step food guides.

Before I forget, this is what we had for breakfast the next morning.

A turkey sandwich and leftover sour cream mashed potatoes topped with mixed cheese

I See Tags

Excuse me for flooding your updates with posts like this but two more friends of mine did it again. Yes, this is another tagging spree! I will spare you from the tags on this post so don't worry, sit back and read ahead!

Tagging culprits: JC and Law
State 10 things you like
  • Which would you prefer as a pet, a Kraken or Barney, the annoying purple dinosaur?
  • Name at least five (5) people you’d die to have sex with. Go dream big! Name celebrities, historical ancient people, whoever!
  • Would you rather die at 70 suffering from Alzheimer’s for the last 10 years or die at 50 without having any degenerative diseases?
  • Who would you punch in the face first, (1) Jamby Madrigal, (2) Bernie Madoff or (3) Edward Cullen?
  • Regardless of your religious views, name the latest Deadly Sin you’ve committed.
  • How would you feel about spending a night in the same room with a cross-dresser?
  • If a criminal was sentenced to death and you were asked to choose how you would like to execute him or her, how would you choose to kill him or her?
10 Things I like:

1. blinders - I use blinders whenever I need some shut eye. I'm the type of person who can't sleep unless there's utter darkness. I'll fall asleep in five minutes if I have blinders on.

2. leopard print - From tops, bags to thermal gloves, I truly adore leopard printed items. I own a handful of them and as I'm getting older, expect some of my household decors to have a leopard accent. (Jordan's aunt gave us a leopard printed couch. Hmm... A bit too much? Maybe , maybe not! I've got to see about that. My walls are white though so maybe it can bring some life into our walls.)

-I'm pondering, still pondering, leopard printed couch... YES OR NO?-

3. cranberry juice - A diuretic never tasted this good. I abhor fruits that end with "-erry" since they taste foul and make me nauseous but cranberry juice does the trick for me. I surprisingly took a liking for the little berry.

4. cleaning - I'm so anal and my fiancé can attest to that. At any time of day, you'll either find me folding something despite it being clean or dirty or scrubbing surfaces. I have an idea embedded in my brain telling me that germs clamber everywhere so it's a must for to tidy up until everything looks spic and span.

5. vintage jewelry - In previous post, you'll see a post with my vintage rings. Aside from that, I like collecting vintage bangles as well. I prefer classic pieces over modern styles.

6. industrial music - Angelspit is my favorite group that hails from Australia. They are an electro-industrial band with a Gothic appeal. If you don't know who they are, search for them on YouTube!

7. bags - Numerous girls like shoes and I understand that. Give me all the footwear necessities and then more bags! I prefer bulky bags for two reasons: 1. I carry a lot of medication, make-up and miscellaneous objects and 2: I feel awkward whenever I use tiny bags. I don't mind a clutch as long as it isn't one of those puny bags with long chains.

8. being random - There are several facets to my personality. It's rare for me to express myself entirely and the only one who has seen all of me is Jordan. From my happy disposition to a cranky 23 year old going on 60, he has seen it all.

9. faux fur - I'm a fan of fur; faux fur that is. Majority of my jackets have fur linings and the same goes for the winter gloves I have. Every girl should own at least one item with faux fur!

10. movies - Being engaged to a movie fiend has its perks! I don't miss out on quality movies and get reviews on movies that I've overlooked in the past. I enjoy movies as well but it's even better to share this hobby with someone I love who has keen knowledge in all types of films.

- I'd choose Barney over the ginormous octopus! Okay, it's a sea monster but it looks like an obese octopus. Barney may look like a pedophile but he did say, "I love you, you love me!"

- Ay la horr! Is this even appropriate? Hay, cochino. Call me icky but Richard Gere has always been a crush of mine despite the fact that he's old and gray. A few others are Chace Crawford, Johnny Depp, Jensen Ackles and James Dean!

- I'd rather die with a sane mind. I want to remember who I'm leaving behind. My cousin's mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and I witnessed how her mental condition apathied through the years. She was a doctor.

- As much as I dislike Jamby Madrigal for being a lunatic, Edward Cullen gives me the creeps! Since when do vampires shine with glitter? If you haven't noticed, he has awfully hairy nipples. I'm obviously not a Twilight fan.

- Since I'm going food crazy over here, I must say that I'm guilty of gluttony.

- I don't think I'd end up sleeping because I'd more than likely have a ton of questions to ask the cross-dresser. I'm going to force him to teach me how to do a feisty catwalk.

- Should I really answer this? I'm not in the position to decide on how to execute another human being. If I had a choice, I'd make that criminal rot in jail to suffer and reflect on his faults until the day s/he expires.

Take the liberty to answer the same questions I was asked. I don't mind hearing your thoughts!

Feed My Curiosity

TAG ALERT!

The tagging culprits are Meg and Lex! I will comply since they're good blogger friends of mine. They both put together a few questions for me to answer. I will be tagging a few people to continue this infinite tagging cycle.

1) What do you most regret in life?

2) Paper or plastic?

3) What is your favorite infrequently used word?

4) What was your favorite toy/game/thing to do/place to go growing up?

5) Describe yourself in five words. GO!

6) What piece of literature/film of particular cinematic merit inspires you most? (Kidding. It doesn't have to be fancy. Just a book/movie. Or even a really long Youtube skit. Whatever. And it doesn't necessarily have to be inspiring.)

-Miss Meg

1) Sometimes I feel like I'm the craziest person person in the world...So you have to tell me something that makes you a little insane so I can feel better about myself.

Okay no, I'm kidding, but you still have to answer it :D

2) Would you rather kiss Voldemort or Susan Boyle?

3) What is one impossible thing you wish was possible?

4) What type of dinosaur would you be? I want you to research extensively and match yourself up with one that has similar personality traits =P

5) If you could move anywhere in the universe, where would you move? (Notice how I say "universe" which means if you would like to reside on Mars, or set up camp in a black hole, that's perfectly fine.)

6) Theme song of your life?

7) Gallbladder or liver?

-LEXical Semantics

1. I’d rather not get into too much dramatics so I’m going to impart a pithy narration. My father met his demise when I turned 10 years old as he lost his battle with brain cancer. I was oblivious that he had cancer until the day he died. I was too young to process the information and my parents chose not to disclose his illness with my younger siblings and I.

On the night of his death, I was glued to the television watching Clueless when my mom called us kids to enter my parents’ room one by one. I stomped my feet on the way to the room and laid next to my dad against my will. I was so crabby. When I left the room and resumed my tv programming, a loud thump resounded around the house. That was the last time I saw my father alive.

2. I prefer to use paper over plastic. I might as well do my part and contribute to the green movement regardless of how small the effort is. I have an eco-friendly shopping bag in the form a strawberry.

3. ameliorate http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_1861585088/ameliorate.html

4. I went through a stage where I had to carry around all my Disney Princess castles everywhere. I have a collection of all the Disney Princess castles that were released in my younger years from Snow White to Mulan. Alas, Pocahontas wasn't part of the collection. A tipi isn't so bad! The last collectible I received was Mulan for my 12th birthday.

5. I believe myself to be loquacious, anal, sprightly, neurotic and perceptive.

6. A few years ago, I came across a short film on YouTube called Spider. It comes to show that there's an appropriate time and place for jokes. Pranks aren't so funny when the tables are turned.

1. I sleep with my eyes half open and I pull each of my fingers twice after sanitizing them.

2. We've all established that Voldemort is a horrid looking creature while Susan Boyle has mutated into a less haggard looking woman. Voldemort has nothing to hide behind his appearance though who knows what else Susan Boyle can morph into? That being said, I'd rather kiss Voldemort than risk another capricious transformation by Susan Boyle.

3. If I could raise the dead, I'd like to have a moment with Audrey Hepburn and Albert Camus.

4. I chose an Ornithomimus. It has a bipedal stance and weighs around my size. Aside from being an agile runner, some things I have in common with this particular dinosaur is the fact that it's omnivorous, wide hips and has large eyes. From what I've gathered, the Ornithomimus happens to be a vivacious dinosaur so that mirrors my personality.

5. Of all the components of intergalactic space, I'd like to reside on the Great Andromeda Nebula. The collection of minute stars around the external galaxy. To witness such brilliance will leave me awe struck.

6. It has become a mantra of mine to live by the lyrics of the song. I believe that better days shall come.

Song of choice: The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow - Annie.

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow

7. I'd like to hang on to my liver, Lex. I can do without my gallbladder but can only survive with one liver. Bereft of a gallbladder means less intake of fatty food. I believe I can hack that.

I take pleasure in tagging the following people:

Roxy

Paola

Lalaine

Lynx

Dhila

TheFeminissima

Luna

Minakichu

KayMarie

Novie

Vajarl

Mike

Here are a few queries for those I've tagged:

1. If you had a chance to go back in time for 24 hours, where would you go and why?

2. What material possession can you not live without?

3. What's your first thought in the morning and last thought at night?

4. If you were given the liberty and opportunity to pursue a new career, what line of work would you delve into?

5. If you were to win the lottery, how long would you wait to tell others?

6. What aspect of your personality is most peculiar to you?

One last question:

Is there anything exciting about yourself that you would like to share?

This concludes the tagging spree! There's no need for you to tag me back. If you choose not to make an entry like this, leave your answers in my comment box. Everyone is welcome to partake in this. Please take the liberty of involving yourself despite not being tagged. I'm eager to hear your responses!

Childhood Cartoon Memories

Growing up in the nineties, I was fortunate enough to watch quality cartoons on the I-Channel and the Cartoon Network. Saturday mornings were particularly special in my house because my younger siblings and I had dominion over the television. We would cram around the bed and delay breakfast for our favorite cartoons which were aired back to back. We would sing in chorus upon hearing the introductory music of each show and carelessly jump on our parents’ bed. Kids nowadays have missed out on great cartoons and are instead hooked on an animated sponge that's devoid of a brain.

My post reflects late on here since my account is oddly stuck at Filipino time. It's Thursday afternoon over here in California so I still made it! I'll post a day in advance in the future just in case this minor issue can't be remedied.

Jem

Arthur

The Magic School Bus

AAAh! Real Monsters

Wacky Races

The Flintstones

The Jetsons

Little Lulu

Hey Arnold

Captain Planet

I trimmed down the best cartoons for the usual Top 10 Picks! Don't you just miss the nineties? I'm getting nostalgic for 90's cartoons, Lisa Frank, roller blades, McDonald's Happy Meals and my Polly Pocket collection.

What are you nostalgic for?

Mi Despedida

It's customary in my family to celebrate memorable occasions other than birthdays and holidays with a bang. On the day of my departure, I spent most of the day with my eldest sister. We went to a nearby grocery store and bought a few items for my last Filipino feast with the family. People in my family are carnivores so my three years of being a vegetarian was short lived because my mom and siblings are excellent cooks. On regular days, the maids prepare our food in which we mostly eat potatoes, pasta and sandwiches. Since we don't normally eat traditional Filipino food, my sister was fixed on having a "tapsi" theme for my despedida.

Food we had that day:

Sinigang soup (tamarind based stew)
Beef tapa
Pork tocino
Longganisa
Sinangag (garlic fried rice)
Fried eggs
Red Eggs
Ripe Mangoes with bagoong (shrimp paste)
Kakanin (Sapin-sapin and Bibingka Malagkit)
Pandan cake

I was tinkering with my laptop when I discovered some photos taken during the despedida so I thought of sharing them with my readers. My sister, Twinkle made all of this possible. With good food comes a suitable table setting so my brother piled banana leaves on the table as if it was his job. Everything turned out quite well.

Pandan cake

Dinner with my family and the awesome yayas

Our head yaya, Vangie and the family

La Familia

sinigang, sapin-sapin, pandan cake, yellow mangoes

bottom to top: red eggs, fried eggs, bagoong, vinegar, diced onions tomatoes and parsley, the meat platter (longganisa, tapa and tocino), yellow mangoes, sinigang, sapin-sapin

I had a splendid time with my family that day. I think my smile says it all. I can't wait until I get to see them again! We have our differences but I love my dysfunctional family from the bottom of my hypothalamus.

On a side note, you might want to take a gander at her dessert business online.

Resident Evil: Afterlife - An IMAX 3D Experience

My fiancé and I have had a lifelong habitude for movies. Being that we're finally together, frequenting the movie house is a given. We went to the AMC Promenade yesterday and watched Resident Evil: Afterlife since Jordan has religiously played the entire Resident Evil series on several systems. (Jordan used to work as a Game Tester so he's a gamer at heart.)

Since AMC only provided 3D viewing for the movie of our choice, we had to pay $16 a pop. The movie is reminiscent of the game, stretching from the storyline to the characters. I believe that this is the fourth installment so far. Seeing The Executioner in the film made me jump every time he appeared on the screen.

RANDOM INSERT:

Call me crazy but coming across Bozo the Clown, Juggernaut, The Executioner and other masked characters incites such an eerie feeling. The fear lurks in because it's impossible to gauge a person's true identity behind the mask. Media has contributed to inciting fear in millions and I'm one of the suckers.

One of the many things Jordan and I have in common is coulrophobia. Yes, my lovelies! We fear clowns to the utmost level that it makes our hair stand on end.

Anything with a concealed face = I'm out!

Excuse me, I'm digressing!

Back to 3D viewing! The experience was most definitely worthwhile. Considering that we went on a Sunday, there were only twelve other people in the theater. The 3D glasses are meant to be recycled but after paying so much to see the movie, Jordan and I decided to keep them.

Toni: Amor, can we keep these?
Jordan: Heck, I paid $32! These are ours!

Resident Evil: Afterlife is a must see! Milla has done it again! Having Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller in the cast made the movie even better to watch. If you've seen the previous movies or played the game in past, you should be familiar with the virus that has been ravaging the world. Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues her precarious battle with the Umbrella Corporation as the Undead takes over Los Angeles. Alice makes it her mission to assist the survivors and guide them to safety in Arcadia. Unbeknowst to the humans, the radio frequency is a deadly trap made to lure them into a so-called "safe haven" known as Arcadia.

In a nutshell, Aside from The Executioner, the zombie dogs gave me the chills when their heads split in half! The movie has a few inconsistencies but that's expected from any film inspired by games. Watch this movie in 3D for the 3D and CGI effects are stunning!

P.S. You might wonder, "Why is it labeled Relationships and Marriage?" That's easy! Watching movies is an escape for Jordan and I since this is one of the many similarities that we share as a couple. Another bonding moment between us lovebirds.
