I remember munching on these back in the day:
Being away from home only intensifies how much I miss the food.
Family will remain despite geographic distance.
Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlightSomeone's thinking of me and loving me tonight
-from An American Tale
Toni, is that morcon? Looks yummy! And ubeng halaya! And those small cookies are ice gems, if I remember it right. :P
ReplyDelete@Pammy YES! I miss my lola's morcon. :( I should've learned the recipe before she passed away. She was such a great cook! Iced gems! You can find it in the mall at that one Indonesian kiosk. I don't know where else to get it. :s Ube is so tasty!

I went home for a few weeks this christmas and MAN I forgot how much I missed the food! Ano nga ba ulit yung tawag doon sa brown jelly things? SO GOOD, but nakalimutan ko na what they're called! :(
@Malisha You have to try Filipino food. It's yummy!
ReplyDelete@luckiebeauty It's called UBE. :) Purple yam in English. I used to eat that out of the bottle. :(
@A Barbie Gone Bad I don't know if those are cookies. I just got them from the internet. :s The biscuits with icing are called "Iced Gems". They're really good!
@Sabrina O. Thank you!
@Rinz Close! Sinigang is a tamarindo soup with either pork or shrimp. The first photo is of Nilagang Baka (Beef Stew). A Filipino food loving Malaysian! :))
@Caro They're very tasty! The purple stuff is called UBE. It's purple yam. :)
@Widdledash OMG! I'm so glad that you know these dishes! A Filipina! :)
ReplyDeleteI ate sisig for the first time not knowing it was pig face! LOL. I rarely eat pork and my husband's whole family abstains from pork so no pork for me. lol.
It's called kuchinta! :D Gusto ko rin yung puto na maliit tapos brownish na reddish. I don't know what it's called eh.
Iv never tried filipino food, it does look really yummy, I think I'm going to have to hunt one down ..
ReplyDeleteAhh the iced gems are yummy they remind me of when I was little :)
malisha x
@Malisha It's good depending on what you get. I only ate Filipino food once a week back home since my family is so white washed. You should try the packed noodles too! You ate something similar to that? Awesome! :)
ReplyDeletehey! new blog layout! cool, must be the new year new look right?
ReplyDeleteso all that food seems irresistible! wish I could eat without gaining weight!

ReplyDeletewooowww Filipino foods! i still have an ube halaya from my friend, getting hungry already. thanks for dropping by my blog! happy new year!
ReplyDeleteWow! Filipino delicacies! Love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd that ube jam looks yummy. My mom makes the best ube jams ever. She really hand picks and dig those ube from the ground on my Grandma's mini garden... hmmm will ask her to make that the next time I see her...hehe
the two last pictures are really heartwarming!
ReplyDeleteAh, I saw the purple mix and I immediately though it looked like Halo Halo! Is the third picture panset? All of this really good looking food makes me homesick too.
ReplyDeleteahh can I get that recipe too? :D
ReplyDeleteOMG all this food makes me so hungry even though i just ate an hour ago. its probably due to the amazing phtos u took/

Awww. Sometimes I feel like living abroad but I don't know what I'd do without Indonesian food and snacks, haha.
ReplyDeletenow I am hungry ... :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I'm sooo hungry now! :)
ReplyDelete=O All of this looks so yum! I love food with lots of colour x
ReplyDeleteWow amazing photos, love the food porn. New follower.
ReplyDeleteThanks! And, ugh, that food looks so good!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so good, especially the third picture which looks so delicious. The purple stuff does look a bit strange I have to admit, if its a drink I might not like it. I know in Mexico we have atoles which are a thickish sort of drink and I have never really been able to enjoy those.
ReplyDeleteBut it all looks great and now I need me some food!
fabulous pictures!! made my mouth water! ;D

@Catita said LOL! My blog layout isn't new at all. I've had it since last year. Thanks though. You're welcome!
ReplyDelete@Elena Sofia They are good!
@Mimi Filipino food is good but there are some that look gross and surely taste gross like balot or dinuguan which is made with blood. I think it's pig's blood. I don't even know.
@FRANKIE HEARTS FASHION You gotta start looking cuz you're missing out! lol.
@Ladawan I'm jealous right now! lol. Happy New Year!
@Hollie My family doesn't normally eat Filipino food so I have nobody who can make that for me. My yayas are awesome at making pansit and ginataang! :D
@Vinda Sonata Thank you! I miss my family.
@blazeno.8 Where's home, then? It's pansit Malabon. :)
Rinz I don't know how to make ube! :)) I know that it's purple yam with coconut milk or something. I've seen how it's made and it requires a lot of stirring!
@Faboulista Oh yeah? That's cool! I found mine on Shabby Blogs or something. The credits are on the upper left side of my blog.
@EveryDay Makeup (becky) I do too! It always brought a tear to my eye. My mom told me that I was singing songs from An American Tale when my head was getting sewn. lol.
@My-My Thank you! :)
@Fifi We still have some restaurants and Filipino grocery stores here but since the Philippines is a tropical country, I can't have all the food I'm craving for. :(
@Madeleine I achieved my goal, then. :P
@Nnenna Ohhh, You should be! lol.
@Thahmina They are really tasty! :)
@Aggie602 and Cindy Yang Lee Thank you! Try it out!
@Smash Bravo Team It's purple yam. It's actually very good! If you eat boba then that's the taro flavor. :) My husband is Guatemalan-Italian so I've been accustomed to his cultural food. lol.
@lila Check Thank you!
@Aysh I've never tried the chocolate ones! I didn't even know that was available. lol.
wow, I am so hungry now. haha, thank you for your comment :) it was very sweet! those shoes were only 4 bucks! crazy right?

ReplyDeleteMy goodness, all those photos are making my mouth water. It all looks positively delicious!
ReplyDeletehow far are you from home? if my home cooking looked like this i'd definitely be feeling nostalgic! i hope you get to head home soon for some of that good food :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I look at this food and am just like "What the? I've never seen any of this before?"
ReplyDeleteI really need to branch out and learn to stop being so stubborn and eat more foods, rather than being a food prude and eating lame stuff like sausages and steaks. loll.
But it all looks so delightful, thanks for sharing.
Wow. Toni, it seems like the fashion-addicted food! So gorgeously colorful, so tempting :)
